Simplify the management of cases handled by lawyers

Cnb is a national public organization in which each lawyer registered with the French bar is referenced. This organization has a web platform via which lawyers can manage their files and prepare for their hearings. I was recruited as a Ux Ui product designer in 2 areas, supplying the Design System as well as developing new features on the responsive web application and IOS to facilitate the management of files handled by lawyers.

My approach

Understand my environment

Like any beginning of a mission, I gave myself time to explore and discover the environment. I spoke with the teams to learn about the rituals, the delivery process, the history of the product and above all to collect user data. Once I have this mapping in mind I can start my work get to work.

Identify the need

The application had received a lot of negative feedback from lawyers regarding the process of creating a document which took them time, but also non-optimal monitoring. After analysis of the course, the data revealed several problems including the management of contacts as well as the management of acts.

Facilitate the creation and categorization of a contact

Adding a contact is no longer done via an iframe, the entire screen is used for this action with clear fields.
In order to be able to quickly visualize to whom to address a document and who to notify, it has been set up the possibility of filtering contacts according to specific criteria useful for lawyers. We have also added several possibilities for sorting contacts.

Create a folder and include contacts

The addition of contact fields previously conditioned by their typology has been set by default so that the lawyer saves time with an effortless search.
A summary of his additions allows him to check his action and edit if necessary before moving on to the next step.

Categorize the acts

Just like the contacts, acts also needed to be better organized. Where before everything was listed, subcategories were added to better identify the acts on which lawyers had to act thanks to notifications.

Results

I had the functionality tested by the lawyers on the prototypes of the web and mobile app course. We shared the result with the lawyers during user tests which were conclusive.
The feature was then pushed into production.
